Before WAIC, like many professionals, I mainly viewed AI as a tool for improving efficiency—helping us search for information, create content, analyse data and complete repetitive work faster. After seeing the technologies, applications and discussions presented at WAIC, my perspective changed.
AI is no longer simply a tool that waits for instructions. It is developing into an active participant in business operations: an AI agent that can understand objectives, organise tasks, connect information and support decision-making. This opened several new perspectives for me.
First, AI will change the way companies organise work. In the future, businesses may not only ask, “How many employees do we need?” They may also ask, “Which tasks should be completed by employees, which can be supported by AI, and which can be managed by an external professional partner?”
Second, AI will not make human relationships less important.
In recruitment and HR services, AI can improve candidate sourcing, market research, job matching and administrative efficiency. However, understanding a client’s real needs, assessing a candidate’s motivation, managing sensitive employee situations and building trust still require professional judgement and human empathy.
Third, companies need to rethink talent capabilities. The most valuable professionals will not necessarily be those who know every AI tool. They will be those who understand their business, ask the right questions, make responsible decisions and know how to work effectively with both people and intelligent systems.
For JetSpeed, WAIC reinforced our direction: we should not simply use AI to work faster. We should combine AI capabilities with local HR expertise to provide more responsive, flexible and practical People Solutions for international companies operating in China.
My biggest takeaway from WAIC is simple: AI is not only changing technology. It is changing how we define work, management and organisational capability. This is a new journey of learning for me—and an exciting new chapter for the HR industry.
